Sport Nutrition Conference - 2-3 December 2009

Aims

The main aim of the conference is to discuss new developments in the area of sports nutrition and to come up with a set of guidelines, based on the latest evidence. Often guidelines are very vague and therefore not very useful. Here we will try to be more specific and produce some guidelines that athletes and coaches can apply immediately. Translating theory into practice is going to be the main theme of the conference. In order to get as much discussion as possible and at the same time reach a large audience we have decided to restrict access to 100 delegates. The speakers are all scientists who have worked extensively with athletes, or nutritionist/dieticians who have been involved heavily in research. The audience will consist of nutritionists and others who are influential in the field of sports nutrition and can convey the messages to large audiences in different countries.

The talks have been selected to represent some the key issues in sports nutrition: weight management (with a focus on weight loss at this conference), hydration, recovery, injuries. All hot topics.

In addition to the lectures, there will be panel discussions where the participants can ask practical questions that they struggle with in day to day life working with athletes. Together we will try to find the answers. There will also be workshops where specifics and even case studies can be discussed. At the end of the conference we will produce materials that are of great practical value to nutritionists, coaches and athletes.
